Bio

Jalen Martinez joins the Clinton LumberKings coaching staff for his first season in 2026 after an accomplished playing career that included multiple stops across the collegiate and summer levels.

A versatile two-way player, Martinez brings experience as both a left-handed pitcher and outfielder. He most recently played at Webber International University, where he hit .326 with 12 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 51 RBIs, posting a .952 OPS. Prior to that, Martinez competed at the Division I level with Ball State University and Arkansas State University, while also spending time at Iowa Central Community College.

Martinez has strong ties to the LumberKings organization, having played in Clinton during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In 2024, he put together one of the top offensive campaigns on the team, hitting .358 with a .441 on-base percentage and 33 RBIs across 44 games. He followed that up with another productive stint in 2025, showcasing his ability to contribute both at the plate and on the mound.

Over his collegiate career, Martinez posted a .329 batting average with a .954 OPS, demonstrating a consistent ability to hit for both average and power. His well-rounded experience across multiple levels of college baseball and summer competition provides valuable perspective in his transition to coaching.

A native of Waukee, Iowa, Martinez played his prep baseball at Waukee High School.

Martinez brings energy, versatility, and recent high-level playing experience to the LumberKings staff as he begins his coaching career.
