Tyler Monkman joins the Clinton LumberKings coaching staff for his first season in 2026, bringing a strong background in player development and defensive instruction.
Monkman currently serves as an assistant coach at Sauk Valley Community College, where he has helped elevate the program’s defensive performance. Under his guidance, Sauk Valley has produced a Gold Glove outfielder and multiple All-Conference selections. He has also played a key role in improving the team’s catching unit, contributing to a 26% caught stealing rate while reducing opposing stolen base attempts over the past two seasons.
As a player, Monkman spent two seasons at Kaskaskia Community College under head coach Brad Tuttle, earning Best Defensive Player honors both years. He hit .284 as a sophomore with four doubles, four triples, four home runs, and 24 RBIs, while adding speed on the bases with a near-perfect 17-for-18 stolen base mark as a freshman. He went on to finish his collegiate career at Murray State University, competing at the Division I level.
Monkman brings a well-rounded baseball background and a focus on defensive excellence to the LumberKings staff.
