Clinton LumberKings Name Trevor Burkhart as New Field Manager

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 29, 2025

CLINTON, Iowa – The Clinton LumberKings announced today that Trevor Burkhart has been named the team’s new field manager, becoming the 51st skipper in franchise history.

Burkhart, a native of Davenport, Iowa, is no stranger to LumberKings fans. He has spent the past two seasons as the club’s third base coach, helping guide player development and in-game strategy. He currently works as an assistant coach at Louisiana State University-Shreveport, where he continues to develop his reputation as a rising leader in collegiate baseball.

Before beginning his coaching career, Burkhart suited up for Clinton during the 2022 and 2023 Prospect League seasons, where his speed and energy made him one of the most dynamic players in the league. He finished his two-year playing career with a .261 batting average, 84 hits, 37 RBI, and 52 stolen bases, ranking fourth in the league with 33 steals in 2023. He also crossed the plate 83 times, including 52 runs in 2023, good for third-best in the league.

“We’re thrilled to have Trevor step into the manager’s role,” said Nate Vander Bleek, LumberKings General Manager. “He has a unique connection to this organization as both a former player and coach, and he brings an unmatched passion for the game. His ability to connect with players and his understanding of what it means to wear the LumberKings uniform make him the right person to lead us forward.”

Burkhart played collegiate baseball at Louisiana State University-Shreveport and Kirkwood Community College before beginning his coaching career. Known for his speed, energy, and baseball IQ, he now looks to translate that experience into guiding the next wave of LumberKings talent.

“I’m honored and excited to be trusted with this role,” Burkhart said. “Clinton has always felt like home to me, and I can’t wait to continue building on the strong tradition of LumberKings baseball.”

The LumberKings open their 2026 Prospect League season in late May at NelsonCorp Field.
