CLINTON, Iowa — The Clinton LumberKings are proud to announce the hiring of Liam Sample as the organization’s new Director of Broadcast & Media Relations ahead of the 2026 Prospect League season. Sample will serve as the eighteenth broadcaster in LumberKings history, overseeing all broadcast operations, media relations, and digital content for the club.
Sample joins Clinton after spending the last two seasons with the Burlington Bees, where he served as Broadcast & Media Coordinator. During his time in Burlington, he handled television and radio play-by-play for home and road broadcasts and led the team’s media strategy, supervising interns and producing engaging social media and multimedia content.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Liam to the LumberKings family,” said Nate Vander Bleek, General Manager of the LumberKings. “His broadcast talent, storytelling ability, and modern approach to media and content creation will elevate our fan experience and help continue the strong tradition of LumberKings broadcasting.”
A native of New York, Sample has provided play-by-play coverage for SUNY Cortland Athletics, the Northeast Sports Network, and the Vermont Lumberjacks, calling football, hockey, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse. Sample also brings strong creative and leadership experience from Pittsburg State Athletics, where he produced promotional video and graphics content and helped lead a team of student broadcasters and creatives.
“I’m thrilled to join the LumberKings and humbled to be part of such a respected baseball community,” said Sample. “Clinton has a proud history of developing great baseball talent and great broadcasters. I’m excited to help tell the stories of our players, engage with fans, and bring the energy of LumberKings baseball to our broadcasts all summer long.”
Sample graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism and TV-Video Production from SUNY Plattsburgh, earning a 4.0 GPA. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Sports Management at SUNY Cortland. His campus experience includes serving as News Director for Plattsburgh State Television, Sports Editor for Cardinal Points, and Film Production Assistant for SUNY Cortland Admissions, where he created high-quality digital content and conducted on-camera interviews.
The LumberKings open their 2026 season in late May at NelsonCorp Field.
